When will the blocks blow up?

Probably on the 1st of January, some time that definitely depends on your local time zone.

Will the blowup crash the server?

Probably.

Does it use a blockchain?

If you’re a VC Investor: Yes totally there are lots of blocks and it’s somewhat of a queue so basically a chain, gimme your money.
